The Heart of the Amazon

Reflecting back on Jan 8th, 2019 about 0930ish

My love and I sit quietly and patiently in awe on the hour long boat ride back to Nauta, Peru from our Treehouse Paradise. Hand in hand we are both stuck in our own minds as we reflect on this captivating adventure we just partook in. We started out anxious and fearful for the venture that was ahead of us, and both left enraptured.

My heart aches tenderly with infatuation and sorrow to leave this utopia. I found the heart of the Amazon. It is not a spot, a sight, or even a single sound. The Amazon, her beauty could not be measured on one thing alone. Within her, the very essence of the nature of nature is so raw that her naked core can’t help but make me feel enchanted.

Accepting all animals and all plants, and all living and nonliving organisms, is purely made evident through the easy cohesion of coexistence.  There is not one corner within this beating heart of Earth that does not partake in symbiosis. The very essence of this symbiosis creates a grand harmonious symphony that lives within Earth’s bosom.

Air gushes past as birds zoom by squawking their each individual tune, and that same air gushes through the currents of the river igniting the speed of the whirlpools. The never ending swirling causes free floating logs to materialize in my ignorant brain as possible caiman or anaconda threats. Free floating vines and bright purple and yellow flowers dance on the uppermost part of the river allowing my fearful mind to rest on their hypnotic nature. Multiple plops and whooshes along with light distant whistles, from the pink nosed dolphins, play on the surface of the river adding to the ever so spellbound flow.

This daily concert is what Lady Amazon matches her heartbeat to. There is a balance here that is respected above all else. Robust balanced energy, like that, is bewitching. My whole body could not help succumbing to it, and I just existed. I just was. I could just be. I was allowed to exist within this beautiful orchestra and  I was lucky enough to experience her concert. I became not more or less. I became a part of the balance.

Connection is at the very essence of an animal’s core. Humans are animals. Humans need connection and symbiosis to survive a balanced life. If at the heart of our Mother Earth lives the Amazon, and within our keeper’s heart lives this cohesion, we too must give it all we have to play a tiny instrument within this huge symphony we call life.

Someone may not have your best interest at heart, but connect with them anyway. Someone may possess all the pet peeves that spark the ants on the edge of your skin, but connect with them anyway. Someone may be ignorant, but connect with them anyway. It’s hard to do this, and I too fail at it numerous times, but I will never give up trying. The heart of the Amazon inspires me to never give up trying.
